Henry Ford

One of the big projects in 4th grade is the wax museum. Each child chooses someone to portray in their classroom "wax museum". Henry chose Henry Ford!

Henry's Report . . .

Henry Ford is famous for inventing the first mass-produced automobile in 1896. He was born on July 30, 1863. He was born 1 day and 138 years before me, and his first name is the same as mine!

Henry Ford had five different jobs before he invented the automobile. They were working on his family farm, working at the Flower Machine Shop, working at Detroit Drydock Company, working at Westinghouse Company as a machinist, and working for Thomas Edison as the chief of engineering.
In 1894, Henry Ford built his first gasoline powered car. He called it the horseless carriage. In 1903, Henry started his first car company and called it Ford Motor Company. He invented the assembly line. An assembly line is a track that they built the cars on. The second car he built was called the Model A. In 1908, he made the Model T. The Model T was a car that Henry’s workers could afford because Henry designed the cars to be the same color and same design. In 1927, the new Model A rolled off the assembly line. During World War II, he used is car factories to make war equipment instead of cars.
In 1943, Henry Ford II took over the Ford Motor Company. On April 7, 1947, Henry died of a stroke at the age of eighty four. Henry Ford will always be remembered for mass producing the first affordable
automobile.

During the day, parents and friends are invited to tour each classroom wax museum . . . Dr. Suess, Albert Einstein, football players, Walt Disney, Ruby Bridges . . . and of course Henry Ford!
